The Ryans, Carolyn (Meryl Streep) and Ben (Liam Neeson) are happy in their work and in their family. They have a son, Jacob, (Edward Furlong) whom they are very proud of. Their lives though, are about to dramatically change forever. After a night out, Jacob appears missing. When the police come knocking at their door, they inform the Ryans that their son is involved in murder. A teen girl was last seen with Jacob and is now dead. When Jacob finally returns, Carolyn urges him to tell the complete truth, while Ben wants him to lie if necessary. Ben also hires a high-powered attorney and sets about to destroy any evidence that might incriminate his son. The opposite views held by each of the Ryans is threatening to ruin their marriage. When the truth finally comes out, will it be too late for this once happy couple? |
