In "Fire on the Amazon" two Americans, ecologist Alyssa Rothman (Sandra Bullock) and journalist R. J. O'Brien (Craig Sheffer), are in the Amazon rainforest investigating the suspicious death of an elderly conservationist who had lived in the region. Authorities arrest a local who is later found hanging from his cell. Alyssa and R. J. hijack a canoe and try to catch up with a group of natives related to the murdered environmentalist. They don't believe he was killed by a local at all and want to ask them questions about the incident. When someone shoots at Alyssa and R. J. and tips their canoe, they head on foot amidst monkeys, mosquitoes, lizards and snakes. They finally reach the natives' settlement and ask for their help in finding the real hit man and his motive. The natives believe the killer is involved in illegal logging. Can R.J. scoop the biggest story of his career and unearth a murderer before more innocents are killed?
